I’m delighted to let you in on a secret – Neal’s Yard Remedies are about to open a gorgeous new shop right in the centre of Hereford and I will be working from their treatment rooms on a Thursday afternoon as of 15th March.  We’ll be having an open evening on 15th March itself where you can pop down and take a look – their organic health and beauty products are a sheer delight.   As usual I’ll be offering sessions of Holistic Massage and Thai Massage – whichever suits you – all in the soothing surroundings of the Neal’s Yard treatment room every Thursday afternoon.   I look forward to meeting you there….

Exciting news – once again tutor Sarah Cohen and I are about to embark on our year-long diploma course at The Fold, Bransford.  We’re both really looking forward to meeting our twelve new students and spending the best part of this year alongside them in their journey towards professional massage therapist status!  The course is accredited by MTI and as such offers outstanding quality and depth of training.  I can’t wait to see how the year unfolds ….

This promises to be a very special day indeed.  Unwind, relax and find peace with a day of Kundalini yoga, meditation and Holistic massage in the beautiful Bleddfa Centre in the heart of the Radnorshire Hills.  Suitable for all women, with or without previous yoga experience, this retreat will be gentle, nurturing and restorative.   I’ll be offering each participant a 30 minute holistic massage and vegetarian lunch, home-made cake and drinks will also be included.    Georgie Treasure-Evans is a wonderfully nurturing Kundalini yoga teacher who will create a very special day in the perfect setting of the Bleddfa centre.   Allow yourself some peaceful time-out and join our small group of up to 8 people.  Booking essential so do get in touch with Georgie on 07807 550 653 if you’re interested.  £60 per person, everything provided, just bring a blanket.   See you there for this wonderful day!

This weekend, 9th & 10th July, we are running one of our fun ‘Introduction to massage’ 2-day courses.  Led by experienced tutor Sarah Cohen, students will learn a range of holistic massage techniques and approaches enabling them to massage friends and family.  By the end of the weekend students are brimming full of enthusiasm and keen to put their new-found skills into action.  Some students go on to join our professional training Diploma course (next one starting Feb 2012) and some students just want to explore and have fun.   For more info see my ‘Learn Massage’ page or for in-depth background to our approach see BCMB.  The weekend is suitable for complete beginners and those who need refreshing.  The main ingredients are fun, laughter, quality of touch and awareness – and of course great lunch at the famous Eco-cafe at The Fold.  There are still a couple of places left – so do get in touch with Sarah Cohen if you’d like to join.  We are also running another Introductory weekend course on 29th/30th October led by myself.  Go on, take the plunge!

This weekend I’ll be off to the heart of rural west Wales for the residential part of our Holistic Massage training course.  The Ceridwen retreat centre looks idyllic.    I really look forward to this weekend as the students deepen their knowledge of massage by learning deep-tissue techniques, connecting work and begin to discover their ‘professional practitioner voice’.  This long weekend is particularly significant as it marks the ‘half-way point’ of their journey to becoming professional massage therapists.  It’s also loads of fun, giving us the chance to get to know each other better and live as a community.    Of course my role teaching students provides me with loads of inspiration to continue my work with clients at my clinic in Leominster.  It’s a win-win situation that I particularly enjoy!

It’s that time of year again.   The delightful Shobdon Food & Drink festival is happening on 25th & 26th June and it’s well worth a visit.  As in previous years the Leominster Guild of Natural Health Practitioners will be there offering mini-treatments and advice about the various complementary therapies on offer.    It’s one of our favourite festivals because of the charming setting, friendly atmosphere and vast array of fabulous food on offer.   I remember well the artisan Foccaccia, juicy olives and organic ice cream….  Yum.  North Herefordshire really is the place to be this summer…..  Practicing massage therapy in the market town of Leominster has lots going for it!

Feel like a bit of free pampering, or perhaps some advice on complementary health?   As a local Leominster massage therapist I’m part of a Guild of Natural Health Practitioners and each year we hold a Natural Health Fair in Leominster to offer free advice and taster sessions to members of the public.  Yep, that’s right, totally free!  This year it will be held on Saturday 18th June, 10-4pm at the Leominster Community Centre in School Road, HR6 8NJ.   There will be a range of fully qualified local therapists on hand to offer advice on complementary health.  Anything from Massage therapy, Chiropractic, Reiki, Bowen Technique, Acupuncture , Reflexology, Kinesiology….. even this year Canine hydrotherapy…. will be represented.  So if you’re curious and would like to find out more, or simply feel like having a bit of a pamper, do call in.   The room will be buzzing so come early!  This year I’m afraid I can’t attend personally – but will be offering a voucher for 15% off your first massage treatment, either Thai or Holistic, at my lovely clinic in Leominster.  Just look out for TouchTree vouchers on the Chiropractor’s table.  See you soon!

This weekend marks another milestone for our students on the holistic massage course at The Fold near Worcester.  We’ll be moving into working with energy – both our own and others – so plenty of quiet, reflective, meditative stuff.  And to ground these ethereal elements we’re also looking at working with the skeleton – the deepest structural core of the body.  Exciting stuff, can’t wait.  And next week I’ll be massaging clients, as usual, at my clinic in Leominster.    Such varied and interesting work – I love it!

Hey, do you like my new logo?  This gorgeous fine pencil drawing was created by friend and fellow massage therapist Izzy Bailey.  She’s a versatile artist based in Hereford and happy to take on commissions.  If you like what you see why not get in touch – 07977 569013.

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on, whole body approach derived from osteopathy. It releases deep tension in the body and assists a return to healthy function, working with the underlying cause of the problem and the body as a whole.
